Porsche 3.0 RSR 1976

This will be a quite long project.
My idea is to make a deeply surgeon to some different bodies and obtain the racing 911 3.0 rsr carrera from 1976. Imho one of the nicest bodyshape of the 911 of the past.
I will not consider the Arena model already in commerce.Wanna see if I can be able to finish something more convincing to my eyes, and maybe cast some resin copies of it,probably for the nicer 934 recently done by tamiya.

Will start convert it from tamiya 935 body.
This is my first model in a different working location than mine usual one (sweden). all is new here, starting from my usual tools.Seems easy but is always a challenge when u are not with your usual stuff.

pics coming soon (mobile ones). hope u like the project.

Re: Porsche 3.0 RSR 1976

thats ecaxtly my idea !
I just dont have the front end aircope and spoiler from fujimi rs. The revell ones is straight and completely mistaken in lines, shape and dimension, so there´s no use for it (nearly no use for all the kit imho...being also 1/25..).
Probably will leave the engine bay open, this to suit the many rear spoilers this car had and have also in modern replicas.
Have a fine ducktail here also, will see if there is/has been any use of it over those rsr, or if it is just an rwb crazy look (too cool) idea.
The bodyshape I will keep is also taken from study of esci rsr turbo, completely poor in details, bud bodyshape not so bad at all.Surely the next upcoming project.

I just noted how dramatically changes immediately the line of the 935 when I replace on her the original high frontlights from the classic 911 shape. Dunno really why in 80s they dare to porpouse the flatnose cars. It is definitely missing the soul of this car...

...love too much those pics shooted at the Karoussel..

great project, Paolo. If you ever sell Transkit, so buy one from you, I would build the first yellow 911 is raced by Michael Keyser.

Re: Porsche 3.0 RSR 1976

Hallo lovegt40,

Looks were working on the same again!

I'm also working on a body the same like Marmotte made. It's his idea I copied. ( to make some decals for)
I haven't posted any pics from it yet , because I don't want to steel someone's idea.

If it's fine for Marmotte I'll post some pics soon, but modelling is very poor at the moment.
My plan is to make the Toblerone car like driven LeMans .
The body is already red, waiting for it's second colour.

Michael from ScaleProduction has the RS front bumper in his shop.

Great project.

Hello guys,
Joka, no problem .. post pictures ... it's just an idea ... all passionate about the same thing you are so it's normal to have the same projects.
Like I said, I have other projects in progress ...
And then see your work can motivate me and will be 3 people on the same kit that can be useful ..

Love Gt40, the rear spoiler you are looking for, this is the 3.0l?
If this is the case I have one in stock. Tell me

Re: Porsche 3.0 RSR 1976

thank u all guys.
Right now I am getting mad with my new windows phone. file transfer is not so easy as before with my dead iphone.Ok will try fix it, even if I deeply prefer work on my models than fix pc/mobile issues.
Positive point is this nokia should make good pictures, even if I am working in my under roof dungeon corner pointed directly to north sea...

Before ask Mike for the front RS front spoiler will try make one using the nose of the 935.Tamiya made a quite bad model of her (suspect the roof is way too large compared to other models around. this should be the part identical to all other 911 around). I compared it to Esci rsr and gionc attept/fujimi clone. the windshield is definitely too wide, and suspect there is no way to make it perfect starting from the 935.
Positive is 935 has a real thick hard plastic. is a pleasure sand cut and refill it to correct shapes.

About rear wing I still did not decide. will be cool leave it open.I think Marmotte made it starting from the 935 wing (thats a too nice wing used by many other porsches) and tamiya made it in a very nice shape.
Think can be easier for me make the rsr rear wing startin from an esci/heller 934. have 2 of theme, and after tamiya model there is less way to love theme any longer as kit...

another issue will be about rims. From nearly all pictures I have it seems they use porsche 917 rims. Have some spare and I mean to clone theme.Looks much ore fitting than original 935 tamiya wheel.

Re: Porsche 3.0 RSR 1976

My rear wing is the fujimi 3.0l, and the "black plastic" (don't remember the origine) is enlarged.

About rims: 15' and wide: rear 14' and front 10.5'
I use Renaissance BBS 15' 936 for the moment, but i find front wheel too small.
Can you measure 917 rims please?

Re: Porsche 3.0 RSR 1976

consider everytime I will be frustrated by not coming results I will return at the first picture place. sailor here. the seeing of the north sea is a needing...no tibet, no religion. just sea.

some surgeon also over tamiya body:

this is what is left of gionc body. also i took away the detail of the engine bay.will reuse theme for rsr

the very useful razor blade is spare from this incredibly nice plane from hasegawa. My first love is planes. I never post theme here cause is automotive. who is interested can find me in britmodeller forum with all my works. Thank u hasegawa btw ..

The blue SBD had a full PE set for the ailerons airbrakes. It was the nicest box in 48th scale on the market at the time. Then the american Accurate Miniature (now Italeri moulds) SBD come (it is the yellow wing model).I like too much this Us navy plane...

Re: Porsche 3.0 RSR 1976

looking the different body I have here I noted anyay tamiya roof is a little bit oversized. This is another mistake I found after the build of my 935/76 squared tail.At the time I just noted the front flatnose flares were too little compared to pics and to their model in 1/12.

model here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...&highlight=935

so now I also found roof is a little out of measure:

picture is not clear, but is oversized of at least 3/4 mm on the top upper part. Fujimi/Gionc and esci rsr turbo are much more in shape.

here u can see the high front lights already in postion. also they come from the surgeon of the resin blob

time also to consider the rear wide of tamiya body. I just noted they took the size..

but as u can see what is not correct for rsr 76 is the external side of the rear wheel fenders. In the 935 they cover part of the tyre.shall be cutted away such part:

now I need to return at picture 1 and see a little more of my northsea again (windstorm and a lot of post from UK arriving soon..). brb later guys...

Good work... and nice place...
Same conclusion as you to the roof ... It seems too wide and too flat!
