its been chilly lately... 45F outside where'd the sun go???

Ive lost enough coolant that my light is coming on/off lol, I guess im good untill im completely out and driving in cold cold weather

Thing is, I dont know where it all has drained too floor is clean inside, I dont see any drips outside.... and there is def a hole, it makes that resurging bubbly noise of the pressure being released and air movin around (louder than normal) sooo dunno I think im going to bite the bullet and do it monday morning, it cant take more than a day cause I have work so tomorrow or today ima call the dealership and see if I can setup an appointment or something... I just hope that everything is placed back into place AS IS when I drive it up there... very picky about that opcorn:

yea I noticed the heatercore post lol nice, I saw somewhere a heatercore online for like $80 but it was an 'aftermarket' heatercore ... what?

no not yet, didnt think that'd be the case cause Its so strong inside the cabin

my engine idles are rough, ugh... I guess ill go check now

if its not draining anywhere then it might still be inside

Its been 'broken' for about a week .. er 6days total from last sunday when I first had the strong smell... .. A/C on/off

my engine idles rough only while at a stand still... when I go, it doesnt hesitate and runs smooth... but eh ill go check

if they're replacing the LIM then ill go ahead and do a motor mount, and possible trans mount... I really think that might be the source of the rough idling.. if not then my tensioner is loose

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Could also be those line under the TB leaking.
The SE had some coolant on the block and I about fliped,
(thinking it was the LIM again)
But one of the hoses had a crack in it and was leaking good.

When they do a LIM its also a good time to replace the head gaskets. Oil pan usually leaks too after 100K miles, so that would be something else to worry about

I guess some of that tax money is going towards a new heater core. Good Luck with that! Luckly you have the warmer weather on your side to work with. we are getting some snow/ rain ice mix within the next few days... so this shall be interesting!

well back to looking like I'm working...

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Yes grfnkl we too are supposed to get some snow/ice this evening, then I'll send it your way

I heard we are supposed to get around 8-12"

I have been busting ass all day getting things ready "just in case".
My snow blade has had a crack in it for a couple years now,
figured I'd better fix that mess and grease everything up and make sure its was all working properly.
What a Day !

shit , its only monday

, I can only image what the rest of the week is going to be like, except for the snow and ice. We were supposed to get the 12-20 inches, but it shifted now it's about 4 inches with ice and rain... I was trying to get my girls snowblower started last night for over an hour... and NADA! Wouldn't even attempt to start... then it started leaking gas all over the place.. SO, right now It's sitting in her garage until tonights attempt!!! After i install mini-blinds, and do various things around her house... Then on thursday we have the fun of our parents meeting for the 3rd time! the nightmare begins.... AHHHHHH!!!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Well it was supposed to hit here around 7pm now they say midnight

On the snow blower, check that its getting good blu spark.
If its set with fuel in it for more then 1-2 months,
then the gas is probly stale, yes gas goes bad

I keep fuel stablizer in all my small engines.
Seems to make spring start-ups easier too.

Haha, good luck with the mindy blinds

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

oil 'looks' fine.. I only checked the level, seems a little full but... nothing chocolately like

theres one weird leak outside but I think its just water...
Pretty sure its the HC somehow, cause man... it was so strong when it first started... now its just eh cause there isnt anything flowing lol... I figure eh.. why put more fluid if its just gonna leak out somewhere I dont know where its going to.....

The temp fluxes lol like 190 to 210 hittin those air pockets =)... Im driving worse than a grandma to keep the rpms down as well temp...

This coming weeked Ill have it done and the GA will be back to life lol

Would my A/C help cooling down the engine at all?
Just curious...

and... summer's mini project is going to replace all the window motors,.. or just the front 2 at least, and the passenger switch cause its gone out... guess ill do the driver side switch too, and get the motor assemblys from ebay for cheap... its just prob a 4hr job at most... Ive gotten pretty handy taking the whole door apart... while im on the subject, I lost all 3-4 bolts that uh goto my back passenger side door so its just being held in by clips

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

We got the Snowblower started last night. We were just having a bad day prior to last night, since we couldn't get the lights to work in the garage, so we couldn't see that the snowblower had very little oil. So last night we did an oil change, and it started right up afterwards. The leaking gas was from me over priming the engine. Our snow is supposed to start around 5pm tonight, just in time for rush hour commute... nothing like my 40 min drive turning into an hour and 40 mins. Plus it's going to be a mix of snow and ice! oh JOY!

Gir: the a/c does not help cool down the engine since the engine has to run harder with the a/c on but it will run your fan's. you are better off running your heat at full blast, it pulls the heat off the engine better.

well enjoy the day.... later

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Hey Gir, when you turn on the AC it should kick on the cooling fans.
Fan #1 comes on at 220 or so, and both at 230-240.

Well all hell has been breaking loose here since about 11:30pm last night.
Thiers about a 40mph wind and its still snowing pretty good.
Suposed to keep snowing till tomarrow.
Probly 7-8" of snow so far, but I've plowed some 5-6 ft drifts

I've been out since 5am this morning plowing snow.......
I'm ready for Lunch !

Then back to work

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

hmm, Im glad I have that PCM then thats staying on after the engine is shut off, just keepin that puppy cooled off lol

I went to the dealer today, and its going to cost my arm, leg and I think my soul to get it done lol

not really sure actually, Im having them do their inspection bit this coming saturday to see what the problem might be, LIM or heatercore,... pretty sure it'll be the heater core because of such the strong smell... it was almost instant... I told the guy if its a LIM and its going to cost less than the HeaterCore job, I told em I might have them look on why my engine shakes roughly at stopped idle, my 2 guess are the mount or idler pully/tensioner ... it HAS to be one of those because it drives smooth like no other lol

the other day I took off all my tires and put them back on, just to make sure that it'll stop... I havent gone 80mph yet due to the coolant but I think I fixed the intermittent tire wobble problem...

while I was at the dealer I was looking around at G6GTP, GPGXP, and GTO =) hrmmm.... GXP would be ideal if brand new, as well the G6GTP ..... if I were to get a GTO Id go for prob a used 04 ls1, even tho I want the 6L lol....

Grand Prix would be fun tho, daily family driver/fun =) plus I know parts already ha

basically im either sticking with the grand am for the rest of this year and not doing the milzy build or getting a new car... we'll have to see

Im also looking around for a local that has a newer year WS6 on hand wanting to sell for 15,000 or less =)

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Well I had a nice relaxing day today.... I took a SNOW DAY from work today . We got about 3 inches of snow/ sleet and Ice. Since my commute is bad enough, i really did not want to make it worse and drive in that crap. On the plus side though I got a lot accomplished that i have been meaning to get to for the past week or so. Amazing what 1 snowy day can allow you to get done. My only downfall to all of this is I wasn't able to go out and get something for my girl for V-day......

Have a good one, or what's left of it!
