Re: 94 chevy k1500 ignition HELP PLZ
So it's the older TBI220? That would be a standard distributor, no CKP, but late enough not to have an ESC module. There isn't much to fail that you haven't already replaced except the wiring and how the devices are connected.

Re: 94 chevy k1500 ignition HELP PLZ
I have a Mac icm tester and I had a friend ask me to change and his ultra cheap parts store brand was defective even through brand new.
I would change your distributor pick-up coil as these will cause engine shutting off when hot. |

Re: 94 chevy k1500 ignition HELP PLZ
I had to replace the coil pick up but now I can't get the damn timing right so frustrated, I've rotated the distributor 180 degrees nothing are they so sensitive that to much of a small rotation would keep it from firing?

Re: 94 chevy k1500 ignition HELP PLZ
I used to pull No.1 spark plug have some one else crank hold your finger over the plug hole. Stop when you feel pressure. Put a socket on the harmonic balancer bolt. Turn until you are at zero degrees then install distributor so rotor is located at No.1 plug. I have missed and had to do it again. You may have to move it slightly to get it to start. They usually backfire if your 180 degrees out.
Retime the engine after starting. I've been retired for 20 years and remember Ford which I worked on more than Chevy and forgot Chevy. The other members on this thread are a lot more up to date. I'm sure they can tell you how. |
