polo dash (alarm)

hi
I have a mk3 polo with a speedo dash that has an analog clock, where as other polos have a rev counter and an digi clock dash. so i bought and fitted the rev counter one to my car, it all works fine exept for some reason when the car car gets up to about 30mph an alarm goes off comming from the dash area and only turns off when the engine is switched off.

any suggestings, to where the alarm is located to dissarm it or to whats it for?

anyone?
