Re: 1987 Camry - No brake lights
I own a 1990 Camry.
My brake lights stopped working. I checked fuse, bulbs, all good. Installed new stop/break light switch under dash above brake peddle . Still no brake lights. I was getting 12 v at the break light switch. Put a gator clip jumper across the break light switch wires to insure 12 v was coming in and leaving the switch circuit . Still no break lights. I then went online and landed on this forum I just joined. Posts on this problem spoke of a Failed Lamp Module in the trunk on left side fender well under carpet panel. I located the yellow module. I removed the circuit board to check for burned out spots as previous posts suggested . I found one burned out circuit. I took my knife blade and cleaned the black carbon residue off at the break in the circuit board. Then I took my basic type soldering iron and soldered the break back together! Reinstalled the module! Guess what? NOW MY BREAK LIGHTS WORK AGAIN! I found out that Toyota wants $200.00 for a new module! Junk yards want aprox $38.00! With this forums guidance I fixed it myself for $0.00! MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO SOLVING MY PROBLEM! let4570 I have pics of burned out spot on circuit board and a pic of the module if you want them. Last edited by let4570; 08-17-2018 at 03:43 PM. Reason: I have photos of circuit board burn out spot and Failed Lamp module |
