Can you believe there is still only one?
A year ago, Honda sent ONE Honda Insight to Arkansas. It ended up 2 blocks from my house at the Bale Honda Dealership. As much as I begged and pleaded I couldn't get my parents to get me it. I was just down there again this morning to get a flat repaired, and I saw IT WAS STILL THERE! I can't believe no one wanted it! All these stupid freaking hillbilly bums go out and buy S2000 s and EXPEDITIONS and all these Lexuses and crap, and no one has bought the only Insight in Arkansas!
Unbelievable! I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had the money. It's like they are taunting me, showing me the car, but not letting me have it. It is so unfair!

The insight is really only popular with the people who are environmentally aware, that I am aware of. They've been in use for a while now around here. Not too many people share the same way you feel about them though.
Still has a good concept behind it though.

The Insight is an impressive little car to drive. During normal driving, it acts just like any other gasoline powered car and you hardly notice that it has less than four-cylinders (actually, I was impressed that it felt like many small four-bangers I've driven). When you need some extra power, the electric motor kicks in like a turbocharger and propels the vehicle forward.
What's not so impressive about it is its lack of storage space. The CRX, which this seems very similar to, was so much more practical. It had a large load area behind the front seats which the Insight does not. For the same money, the Toyota Prius is the better car. Insights and Priuses are selling well, they're just never going to be huge sellers in these forms. |

Well, I still think the Insight looks tight, and would rather have it over the Prius.
Besides, it's a Honda!

I'd like to own an Insight, as a daily driver. Hell, the MPG is amazing, save some big money there, and then pull out your normal gas car on weekends and special occasions

in all honesty
the 2004 prius is the car the insight should be. I can't help but wonder if honda has something up it's sleeve around the corner. With Toyota advancing the Prius, the Insight is even more likely to sit on a car lot. Perhaps the competition simply isn't lucrative enough.

newer and better
Honda has a new gas/electric hybrid for 2005. A 6-cylinder Accord. This car comes with effeciency and power. It gets like 45 mpg and has something like 243 hp. Under most circumstances it uses all cylinders but the "brain" figures when to turn three of the cylinders off so that it's only running on half. You never feel the transition or notice a power loss. comes in real handy on the highway and such when you're cruising along.

Re: Can you believe there is still only one?
I stand corrected. 255 hp and 30 in town, 37 on highway still kick ass
