Hi robrex, awesome build so far, I've been watching this thread for more updates and all I can say is fantastic, one small point though and I don't want to say you are wrong but, in this picture of the rear brake line it looks to me to be the wrong type of fitting, shouldn't it be a banjo type of fitting?

just curious thats all as I am a motorcycle mechanic and I have never seen that kind of fitting on a brake line before, rest of the build is stunning keep it up. Big respect from me.

Here's a few pictures of the rear brake line and fittings

And here's a quick picture of the finished piece. The photo has come out quite dark but it is a lot lighter in real.

The fittings aren't exactly the same but we have to work with what's available and the Sakatsu fittings are probably as close as I could find.

Thanks

wow this is absolutely stunning. You do some amazing work on the lathe. This is bar none, hands down the most amazing build of a bike I have ever seen. Well for that matter the best bike, car, truck and anything else around. This is top notch craftsmanship at it's best. Great work rob.............*Ryan*

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: Barry Sheene's 1980 YZR500

Almost finished
I've added most of the wiring.
Also wired up the VPVS motors

To replicate the inside contour of the cowlings I covered it with material from a fabric shop then painted it semi-gloss black

The screen was a major pain to complete. I eventually used Squadron thermaform then secured it to the cowling using MFH rivets. The cowling clips are self turned then I added the single groove using a fine saw.

A few more finishing touches and it will be done!
Want more photo's?

WOW.!!!! Yes I want to see more. This is perhaps the best bike build I've ever seen... If you take the photos in the right scene, you could pass this off as real... It's stunning.. I can't even begin to think how you could turn a Tamiya plastic kit into something so real.

I mean we all say well done, nice job etc to many builds. And mostly they are good builds, but this one blows the doors off..!! Simply amazing.. you've got skills...

Na, those almost finished ones make me sick enough. Not only awesome, contest winning work but practically done six months early! Most of the rest of us have yet to begin our eighties comp entries.

EDIT: The lockwire on the brake caliper should be a lot taughter!

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: Barry Sheene's 1980 YZR500

I guess I could stand a couple more photos Any chance of you making a side by side shot with a more modern machine? Kind of a 80's vs Y2K shot.

Apart from your amazing skills, I'm just awed by how quickly you can make such a detailed build! It's as if you a) have a time machine; b) never sleep or c) don't do anything else

You'd better start making room on the fireplace for more trophies!

hard to add other few words, so congrats Rob
and I agree with oters: really fast build up considering details level

Well, Rob, another day another shock. Your build-up has been giving me chills from the very first post! I am stunned by the speed, accuracy, and tastefulness of your work. Please continue, and more pics are surely welcomed!

Sure..

How's that?
I'll take another comparison photo when it's completely finished.
