1988 toronado dash issues

I just recieved an 88 toronad that I do not know the history of the vehicle.
car runs great and comes down the road smooth as silk
My problem is that the instument cluster will go blank including the climate control and tach, the radio still works when this happens
this is a random problem, sometimes if I restart the car the cluster will come back on, and in 1 irare instance the car stalled out for about 1-2 seconds when I was merging onto the freeway and then just kept on going after that, It does not read electrical problem or error in the control center?
any ideas?

Welcome to AF. These inst clusters were problematic when they were new, replaced plenty of them. You can get exchange units now, just google "GM instr. clusters" for companies that exchange them.
