crv 2.0 or Integra Type R?
I have an 94 Integra GSR and I am debating on putting in a JDM Integra Type R motor or a JDM Honda Crv 2.0 (with my integra head). I am no planning on NOS or Turbo at the time. But I would like to get the most performance for my money.
1 Which will give me the best performance? 2 If I get a JDM Type R will I be able to hook up my Air Conditioning? |

get the crv-tec going on b/c its got more power than the b18c5 and it may be cheaper and have more expansion for mods in the future

well, first off, i kinda think you should just stick with the GS-R and then mod it up with the money you save. But out of those two i would prolly go with the CRVTEC just cuz it'll be a whole lot cheaper so you can use the extra money for that turbo and nitrous. Plus, isnt the type r almost the same thing as a GS-R? i know the type r has more hp, but theyre basically the same engine.

i would stick with the GS-R motor as well. the 94-95s are faster than the 96-01s as well

Why on earth do you people keep thinking a CRVTEC will be better than a B18c5? or even a B18c?
Yes it has the potential to make more hp, but you seem to fail to realise how much work, time and money is required. Its not as simple as bolting a B18c head onto a B20a block. Its like putting Type-R pistons cams and valves into a B18c will give you more hp than a real B18c5, but it will be totaly useless hp, as it the Comp ratio is so high the engine will kill itself on anything but race gas. And even then its risky. ellisr63 IMHO the best thing you could do would be to put some cams into your engine, or look at Supercharging. Forget about the B20 with a B18c head, for you it sounds like it would be a waste of time and money. If your really into a sweap then go with the ITR engine, but I think the money would be better spent on your current engine, which has plenty of potential in it.

The CRV block runs for about 1000. I think.
And the type-R is about 5000. Its not gonna cost 4000 to do the conversion. You already have the gsr head. You'll probably get more HP and most likely more torque. |

it should be ok if its done right. but i still think you should just put the money into the engine you have. i dont know, i guess i just dont see the point of swapping an ITR in there, cuz its almost the same engine. your just ######## yourself out of 5,000+. If its a strictly drag car, then shove a H22 in there, but thats only if its a drag car.

Thanks everyone. I think I will rebuild my gsr engine rather than swap another motor in. Does anyone know if the Skunk 2 intake is good for the street? I live in Northern California and I also need to know if it would pass the visual for smog.

Good choice, I have no idea about that intake. you could always just take it off and replace it with the stock one when it comes time for smog. where are you at in Norcal? Im right by sac.
