2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
We have in our shop a Nissan Altima 2,5 2003 with too high idle, check engine light on and the error code is :P0507 idle air control system RPM Higher than expected.
If we delete the error the car run good with the properly idle around 1300 rpm until that' warm, when the coolant reach the regular warm temperature idle is regular around 900 rpm only with AC working.when the compressor disconnect the idle run around 1200/1300 rpm and the engine light switch on again.Definately there aren't leaks in the intake manifold,or vacuum hoses or similar problems. Someone know how fix this problem, and anyway what' the procedure to reset the idle? Thanks to everybody |

Re: 2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
try cycleing key on for one second and off for 10 seconds three times. this may reset idle air volume learn. if you have used any type of fuel induction cleaner, good luck, because we have seen this cause problems in any nissan with drive by wire setups. you can also try disconnecting both battery cables and touching them together for 10 seconds. this is supposed to cleared all self learn settings back to 0.

Re: 2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
Thanks Nissandoc for your answer. We don't know the history of this Altima cause come from an auction.Anyway don't seems to me that someone have used induction cleaner.I had already try to reset turning the key 2/3 times and wiating 10/30 seconds each time but I haven't had any result/I'll try to disconnect the battery cables and short the two pole as your suggestion, and,if I don't obtain results need I replace the throttle body?
Thanks |

Re: 2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
one other thing you can try is "throttle valve closed position learn". first make sure that engine and trans are at full operating temp, all electrical loads off and trans in park.
1. turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. 2. accelerator pedal fully released, turn ignition on and wait 3 seconds. 3. fully depress and then release accel pedal 5 times within 5 seconds. 4. wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accel pedal and hold it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turned ON. 5. fully release accel pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL goes off. let me know how it goes. |

Re: 2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
Hey Nissandoc, i have a 2000 infiniti G20 and in first gear the car pulls almost like it doesnt have enough air and the diognostic brought up a code P0505 Idle Air Control Valve / Auxiliary Air Control Valve. I called Infiniti and they said i had to take it to a dealer and get them to program the idle air volume and it wasn't the valve. Its sounds like you know what your talking about, hope you can help

Re: 2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
You Can Try The Same Procedure As Described Above To Set The Iavl. However This Code Shouldnt Have Anything To Do With A Driveability Issue. You Should Have Someone With The Correct Scanner Equipement To Monitor The A/f Alpha And Air Flow Grams Readings. To High Readings And You'll Need An Air Flow Meter. Alpha Should Be Between 95-105% And Grams 3-4. IF THE P0505 CODE CONTINUES THEN YOU'LL NEED A THROTTLE BODY.

Re: 2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
Hey, new guy here with an infiniti g20 problem. I have an idle problem that I spoke to the dealer about and his service history said bad aux air control valve. Got one, but can't find where it goes. This is my daughters car and I don't have any repair manuals with diagrams. I'm hoping I dojn't have to tear the whole top end apart to replace this thing. Can you please help?
Thanks. |

Re: 2003 Nissan Altima idle problems
Hi Nissandoc,
When you said 'turn ignition on', you did not mean crank up the engine right? When I tried with the engine off, the MIL is not blinking. Did I miss something? Thanks. Quote:
