Re: whats the rarest car you've seen on the street?

I saw a Rolls-Royce Phantom today when I was waiting at a light. It went by before I could get a chance to get my phone out for a pic. It was white with like 20" chrome rims. Very nice.

doesn't figure. assuming that you've got the torque figure correct (and it looks very wrong indeed.) and assuming idle to be around 1,000rpm if it were making 320lb/ft at that engine speed it would be making 61hp at the same engine speed. as shown below:

power = (torque x rpm)/5252

power = (320 x 1,000)/5252

power = 320,000/5252

power = 60.92hp.

It's what I recall from the conversation with the owner. The original owner was from Texas. It was a rare car indeed and am not ashamed that I got the stats wrong on the car. But I have never seen a factor car idle and the whole thing shake before or smoke the tires at freeway speeds.

it's perfectly possible for it to be shaking an spin the rears at those speed, i know a guy who had a Challenger 440 R/T and it did the same.

i think the owner was lying to you about the figures.

Re: whats the rarest car you've seen on the street?

I thought I saw a '65 Shelby Cobra SC 427. Turns out to be a kit replica. Then last fall I saw a red '66 SC 427. The guy was the original owner and the car had about 200k on the odo and a rebuild of the motor around 190k. He drove it once a week and his 308GT once a week and his CTS-V every other day. Must be nice to have that kind of garage. But how would I know? That right...I wouldn't know!

Exactly...any true auto enthusiast would want the manual. You can do so much more with it than a queer automatic/slushbox!

Re: whats the rarest car you've seen on the street?

Whoa whoa WHOA fellas theres no need to call me gay here, this is a gentlemans forum, not a high school lunchroom. All I was saying is that, although not rare Im seeing, I just dont personally think that a luxury SUV needs a manual. If you want to drive a sporty car and you want a BMW and have X5 money, its called a 330ci or 335xi hombre. The 335 has X-Drive and a much lower center of gravity. But thats just me. And dont get me wrong, I like manuals alot, but not on the X5 for sure.

And not more than 3 houses away from the guy who owns a Ford GT 2 block away from my house, I saw ANOTHER Ford GT. And I know its not the same one because this one is the awesomely cool red w/ white stripes.

Oh, and one of the detailers at work calls auto trannys "automatically gay" so you know, mull that one around and use it at your liesure.

Re: whats the rarest car you've seen on the street?

It may not be the rarest car around. But I saw a 2003 Saleen Extreme, it was the personal car of Steve Saleen. It wasn't owned by him when I saw it he sold it to someone else. It was numbered 002, 001 I was told doesn't exist.
