Re: things you would like in GT5

Guys, I think many of you are forgetting what GT is all about:

Some examples are the BMW M3, Ferrari 250 GTO, Porsche 911 GT3, Porsche 904 GTS, and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

After these famous races and cars, several road cars and even computer games adopted the Gran Turismo name:

* Grand tourer, a car designed for comfortable long distance driving.
* Gran Turismo (GT) series of games for the Sony PlayStation, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 gaming systems.
* Many automobiles integrate GT into their names or use GT to describe a particular trim level.
Originally, it was based on the JGTC, All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (now called Super GT) and had the cars from the series, plus a few outsiders (TS020, R390, & Viper GTS-R from Le Mans, and some others). I think it will (should!) be a further development of that and NOT stray off in some other direction. In recent years the Super GT has begun to hold races all over the world (GT4 had tracks from Korea, China and more importantly Le Mans and the Nürburgring, which is great) and I think the next GT should follow. I want the game to expand (CTS-V racecar please), but not become like many other racing games out there, "Jack of all trades, master of none". GT is the Ferrari of racing games, simply put, one of the best.

Speaking about Ferrari and other exotics in GT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gran_Turismo_%28series%29

Criticisms

Also, there are certain notable marque omissions that leave many enthusiasts upset. There are no Lamborghinis (excepting a privateer JGTC Diablo in the Japanese edition of GT3), or Porsches (although RUF, which is available, builds its cars on Porsche chassis). Perhaps the most surprising absence of the game is that of Ferrari (although it is finally making an appearance in the new Gran Turismo HD). This is because the Publisher Electronic Arts holds the rights and will not allow futher licensing, at least not for a price acceptable to Sony/Polyphony.
I'm not a big fan of Forza, but the game is a good thing. It will force the makers of GT to include a lot more real life tracks in the next one since Forza had Road America, Sebring, Road Atlanta, and many others.

I learned many things about cars and racing from GT which I doubt I would've learned from games like NFS: underground. Dont forget, the earlier GT's had booklets about the theory of racing: perfect line, early/late apex, braking, acceleration, weight transfer, tire wear, +/- of FF, FR, MR, AWD cars, etc...lets hope this legend continues and GT stays true to its roots.

Actually, I think this tells us something...Most likely, if there will be major changes of any kind, the next GT will have more of that stuff instead of the things we want. Sony will probably give in to more of their demands than ours. WHY you ask? More people buy games like NFS:U than GT. For every one game like Forza or GT, there are like 5+ street racing games and since Gran Turismo is a business, well, you know how it goes...There is a bigger following to that stuff than there is to endurance racing/grand touring. Out of all the people that play games (spend $$ on games), more are into "ricing" the cars than the actual "physics of motorsport." You know what I'm saying guys?

Re: things you would like in GT5

i think wat u just said is the dumbest thing eveer, other than if a person walks in and is wet, and u ask if it's raining out. but seriously gt wnt put ricer shit in, that's a different racing type, they relize that is made by to many other companies. and besides if u play with a cars setup in gt or forza u can drift, it's not that difficult. and besides i personally have more gt type games than nfs:u, actually thats the only one i have, the rest are gt2-4, forza and most likely f2, le mans,

Was that really necessary? Why is it dumb? Because it doesn't agree with you're point of view? That just says that you're the retard. And learn how to spell my friend.

Re: things you would like in GT5

As far as I remember (but it's been a while sine I last played GT 2) you can't change you wheels in GT2 and you can in GT4... does it shows something? that Sony is ready to add non-race-usefull stuff to their game to please the ricers out there... much like there are 57 different kinds of nissan skylines in GT4 because all ricers know that the skyline is TEH SHIT!

that just made me think about something, being able to change the tires, and by that I mean the actual size of the tires, would be pretty kewl... small rims means more hp at the wheels, now, that's a racer thing (note that I don't use "i" in racer)

Re: things you would like in GT5

if u want to drift in a game, by a drift game, not gt, or forza, they are not made for that, they're made for grand touring, hence the name GRAN TURISMO. and i can spell, most my errors are made by the keyboard being too sensitive. all that's needed in gt5 is less skylines, we dnt need 57 different ones, 6 will suffice. we need more real world tracks, call sarth- le mans(more people know it that way), and i'd like it if the cars weren't locked as apposed to the hell u have to go thru to get them

Yea man, you're right. Thats exactly what I was saying. Its called competition. If, for example, GT5 and Forza2 are exactly alike, but Forza has the option to add body kits, tints, or whatever, Forza will look as the better game.
