Good evening/morning/afternoon,
I was doing some research on the Internet and just found you guys. I'm glad I did! I have a '95 Subaru Legacy L wagon, which I really love. To make a long story shorter, I had a front end accident not too long ago and had to replace the psgr fender and hood. The vertical post below the hood latch which holds it in place was also badly damaged but I got it welded back together (that post is welded to the frame on my car). Anyway, my problem is the hood is loose. It pops open slightly, especially when on the freeway, then it "bobbles" up and down just a little. Thankfully, it hasn't flown open (yet) but it makes me very nervous. I've had that happen before - on the freeway = not funny.
Someone suggested spraying the latch assembly with some lubricant, which I did. It seemed to have helped the hood to stay "properly" closed
as long as I don't get on the freeway! Once I do, it starts that bobbing up and down - still - with a range of maybe 1/2"-1" at the most. The only real difference between pre and post lubrication is the bobbing seems to be more frequent or faster, if that makes sense. It's very slight, but enough to induce a little panic
I found a thread on this site:

I have the same exact issue as he did. Replies mention rubber spacers on the radiator supports (this is for a Nissan). I'm wondering if there are such supports on Subaru Legacies, specifically the '95 version? Does anyone know, or have any ideas for what I can do to solve this issue?
I appreciate any feedback! Thanks ...
