New '06 Chevy Impala
Has anyone seen the new Chevy Impala? It looks sweet! Especially the SS. I'm glad Chevy is finally appealing to enthusiasts with their 303(!) Hp 5.8L engine. The front end looks great. I can't wait to see how they look and perform as police cruisers!
Visit CHevy's upcoming vehicle site on the left column of chevy.com, it's sweet! |

Re: New '06 Chevy Impala
FWD V8 As if the Impalas and Monte Carlos had a hard enough time getting traction with the V6 SS's The motor will probley be pretty bogged down with traction control or just spin like crazy(witch isn't always a bad thing).

Re: New '06 Chevy Impala
Its really a step in the right direction, just needs that rwd. but Id rather take the new Grand Prix GXP(same motor 10 less hp). It looks much better. And its a pontiac.

The looks are OK though i dont really like the rear end. But they finally did right on the engines, they have a 240hp V-6 that they desperately needed to keep up with the accord, and the V-8 is just awesome, though they do need to be RWD. Yes Chevy also desperately needs to revamp its whole automatic transmission lineup, making them all at least 5-speeds. Does anyone know if a Manual is available? I think this is a step in the right direction for Chevy but i still dont think its going to compete very well with the Accord and Camry, and all of this is coming from a die hard Chevy guy.

I've heard rumors of GM switching to RWD soon.

Re: New '06 Chevy Impala
guess it looks better then what they had still something that really doesn't appeal. The ECM will be monitored like crazy to save the transmission.
I know people were breaking the transmissions in 97-03 GTP's and gm "said" they beefed it up for the V8's. Guess time will tell. |
