price for b16a

hi, just wondering what you guys have paid for a b16a. i'm looking for a complete swap, tranny, motor, axles, computer, etc. etc. i don't know how much i'm supposed to spend, i was thinking under 2 grand, my friends say thats what i can get them for. Also, is it true that i need my car year motor or newer, or does it matter, because i think if you get an older one it will be illegal. any input would be great, thanks.

damn, thats alot of money. what do you think i should do, turbocharge my sohc vtec, or get the b16? i think the turbo would be faster than the b16, but it's still sohc. what would you do? by the way, if i go turbo, i would build my own kit out of different parts, so it wouldn't be as expensive as a kit by greddy, or drag.

i would say to go with the b16a. fix it up. then do the turbo to that. thats what i did. cos you might be able to beat those dohcs with your turbo but you wont beat those turbo dohcs. the b16a has like no torque, but that can be fixed..and i guess if you are going from an sohc you are used to the no torque.

i paid for my engine and shipping around 1100. but i didnt get the tranny, ecu...i didnt go for the whole swap. you can get a b16a SiR2 usdm complete changeover from hondamotorsonline.com for $2350 + shipping. i think you can get the same thing from nippon-motors.com for around 2000. and it costs a little more for lsd.
