2001 grand Am gauges- maybe, maybe not
I have a 2001 grand Am Se. First let me give you background. Installed new stereo with set of 15`s and amplifier in trunk. Started having starting problems, thought amp might be staying on all night so cut so cut off power to amp. Still had starting problems so put new battery in car and wired stereo where everything goes off when I turn off car.Thought all problems were solved. Wrong! Some days I get in the car and everything is fine.
If I star the car and all the lights come on like they are suppose to then I have all my gauges. Speedometer,RPM,fuel,etc... If they dont I know Im not going to have any of these things. At times after I drive a few minutes they will all flash and start working, other times they wont. I have drove home from work the last 3 nights with no speedometer or anything working. That makes me very nervous! Sorry post has so much info but thought background info might help. I have learned alot from these post. I hope someone can help me this time. Thanks |

check your fuses, your alternater is probably being over powered. turn off your stereo and everything and just drive around without it on and see if that does anything.

you need a bcm (body control module), common problem on these cars. For your 2001, the gm part # is 12206799 if you have remote entry.
