convertible top question

I was wondering if the black, fabric tops that come stock on 1996 Z3's are engineered to withstand the weather without showing signs of wear and tear.

For example...If I leave the car out in the sun on a daily basis, or subject it to rain or cold temperatures, would the convertible top fade or wear down?

Re: convertible top question

I had my black top Z3 for about 5 years, and while it was garaged at home, it withstood lots of hours out in the sun and cold while I was at work. Nothing really faded, the only thinkg to be aware of is that the platic window will become opaque and may crack if you open the roof in low temperatures.
