If you want some reference for super-detailing, here it is.
My best pal, Bob Jernigan spent many moons researching the accessory placement for his Boss 429 engine, and even though he "Hot Rodded" it he got it spot on!! Bob is a little more intense a researcher than myself, makes my factory spec stuff look very tame. This entire engine only has the block from the kit. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING else is scratchbuilt!!

I'll bet. While I'd love to do something like that I just don't have the passion for it, yet.

Looks freaking amazing!

OK, even though Murco has embarassed me in my own thread by posting that perfect 429 motor, I'll still provide a couple update pics of the Mustang I'm working on.

I've basically got everything painted and all I need to do is work on the paint of the main body a bit, assembly and do the detail work.

Love that baby blue looking colour !!!!...looking good.

F.Y.I ....When i done mine i found the front grill/bumper did not line up very well. I had painted every thing then ended up sanding and filling gaps and repainting to get the front looking right. Might have to check if you have not done it already.

It's Grabber Blue.

I'll check into the front grill fit. I know it was a bitch to just test fit. I have to put another coat of paint on any way. The weather's been tres crappy here so sprayin' been hard.

Angry sonnuvabitch!!!!

Well I had one more coat of paint to put on the Mustang. I was using the Testors 'Grabber Blue' spray. Well it orange peeled worse than anything I've ever seen. I'm sick of sanding out this crappy paint.

I really don't want to use that same paint again so I'm looking into other options for a Grabber Blue. If I have to I'll use Testors again but as long as you don't let the paint level in the can run down too far it's not bad. Just don't let it get under about 1/4.

If you want to start from scratch, the best spray paint in the world is made by MCW (model car world)! They offer a Grabber Blue color (part# MC 8) that will knock your socks off! The cans even have a special nozzle that lays the paint thinly and super smooth. Here's a link, the factory paints are towards the bottom...

I'm striping all the body parts now. Except for the underbody. I'll try that paint out. How many cans do you think I should get? I'm thinking 2 but I might be able to get away with one. Oh yeah you wouldn't happen to know the cost off hand. I couldn't find it on the site.

Testors is really pretty rotten. What a waste of time.

My bad, the cans are $6.50 each and 2 cans are the recommended amount. Also try the primer they sell, it's Dupont Vari-prime, some of the best stuff around!
