Re: 911 Turbo '88 [Singer Style]

Looking good! Ivory white, though? What about Viper Green or that french blue looking color that Porsche has?

Re: 911 Turbo '88 [Singer Style]

Thanks! Viper green was my first thought but it will be used on a GT2 Road Version I have. Not a huge fan of the ivory white but this combo got me. It gives a retro look. In the photo it looks grayer though.

This is pretty cool so far!! I really like all of the work you put into it to make it look "right".

Re: 911 Turbo '88 [Singer Style]

Thanks a lot for your time and comments!

First round of paint is complete. I decided to make my own mix instead of buying an existing Ivory colour. I used Gunze Gloss White (about 6ml) and two drops of Tamiya's Flat Earth. I will leave the paint to gas out, sand any imperfections or dust particles and I will go for another round as I want a smoother finish before the 2K. I hope the weather will allow it as the next days will be rainy and with high humidity.

Shots are on the fly.

Thanks for watching!

Re: 911 Turbo '88 [Singer Style]

Thank you Christophe!

Small update on the wheels. They were painted in body colour and then put on the dremel. While spinning I touched the ring with a soft cloth soaked in thinner to reveal the chrome beneath and create the ring. I have to make the black bottom which will be the trickiest part.

Thanks for watching!

This is great so far!! The few drops of earth added to the white give it a cool, modern look.

Re: 911 Turbo '88 [Singer Style]

Love what you have done so far. I brush painted the recesses in these Fuchs. I thinned Tamiya semi-gloss black; (5) drops of thinner to (1) drop of paint. I loaded up a small brush and touched it at the intersection of the spoke and the wheel and let capillary action pull the paint along the spoke and into the recesses. It took (3) coats to get the coverage I wanted but I think they came out nice. It should work for you as well.

Re: 911 Turbo '88 [Singer Style]

Not at all! Thanks a lot for the advice. I was thinking of doing the rims the same way you proposed.
Sadly it didn't turn out very well, the line between the "star" and the "bottom" is curvy and the the capillary action didn't help. I thought of scribing a line but that is not accurate at all, anyway I'm working on it! For now I have to strip and repaint them.
In the meantime I'm working on the engine cover and when done I will paint everything and 2K clear them.

I hope I will have progress soon.

Re: 911 Turbo '88 [Singer Style]

Wonderful project idea, and I like that you trimmed the fender lips down, much better ...my only observation would be that the wheels/tires stick out past the fender lips, and I would probably pull them back slightly, otherwise no criticism at all, great workmanship & looking forward to seeing more!

Some plaid inserts to the seats would great too?!
