Thumbs down Anyone else see the news: street race crackdowns?

I've looked on-line, but can't find any details. The story basically said that the police are cracking down on street races in L.A. County by ticketing spectators. The fine was pretty outrageous... something like $300 or 3 months in jail because you are "encouraging illegal activities".

Anyone else watch this story or know where I can learn more?

I don't think thats right... wouldn't a spectator of a stunt man be considered encouraging him? Or even watching a movie with dangerous stunts? I don't think so.

how could they prove u were there as a spectator and not just driving through and talking to some people with no idea people were racing?

"officer i was just talking i had my back to the road and all i know was there were a bunch of lawnmowers and angry bumblebees going by. i didnt know anything about any racing."

No doubt!

Anyway, I'm getting tired of cops & thinking of changing my "ricer" paintjob. Maybe a big sticker that says, "I LOVE COPS!" Or, "0-60 in 5 minutes"... just to throw them off.

Maybe San Diego & other cities... but up here it started recently. Last summer was like the Renaissance of street racing in LB. F&F was out, and it seems everyone was up for some action.

I haven't heard about this specific story, but I've heard of ones like it.
As for the ticketing spectators, i'm assuming that they would only ticket the people who were out of their cars standing around cheering, had their bonnets up all that sort of thing. It makes sense to me, I'm just supprised they won't be slapping Aiding and Abeting(sp) charges on them too If you observing a stunt man, that stunt man isn't exactialy breaking the law either.
