Talking Bypass the A/C Clutch relay?

Hello all, I just purchased a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. While I was car shopping, one of my criteria was it had to have A/C, but alas, the great deal I found had no A/C. Oh well its almost winter anyway. Anyway, the A/C system has one of those pressure sensors. The only way to test the car for leaks/ fill the system it to have the clutch engaged, of course. You can do this by unplugging the A/C relay (I know where that's at) and jumping a wire so that the clutch is engaged no matter what and you can fill the system. My problem is that i have NO idea which pins to jump. Hopefully its an easy fix....
Thanks,
Tanner

You might get a better response if you post it in the appropriate section of the Jeep forum .

Re: Bypass the A/C Clutch relay?

it is a 5 blade relay. 3 terminals are the same direction and 2 terminals are the same. you need to connect the 2 terminals togther to power the clutch. it is terminals 30 and 87. another option is to charge it with an a/c recycler which does it with the car off. just to mention that a common jeep leak is the evaporator and to do that the dash needs to come out .big job

if no large hissing the best way to ck a leak is to add leak dye then trace it with a uv light you can buy a cheap uv light and glasses at any auto pts store
