Exclamation infamous speed selector issue

Hey all, I could use some help. The speed selector switch for my heater has been slowly going out in my 02 imp. I lost 5 then 4 and this summer 3 wouldn't work. Well it finally went out Friday...during a white out blizzard! I have no heat. I nice its the switch in the dash as it feels gritty when tring to turn it. I know this is a known issue and was hoping someone could give me a part number or the correct name so I can get a replacement. Thanks.

And if I do it myself I will make sure to take pictures of the fix....

usually it is the resistor..could be the switch ..this will require a voltmeter to be sure..also it is possible the motor is also dragging and drawing more power overloading the switch/resistor assy...

with removal this is all easy to figure out.

Unhappy Re: infamous speed selector issue

I'm positive its the switch. Besides being able to get it to work by taping on it there is the feel of it. Crunchy or sandy feeling is the best way to describe it. Any clue as to the part# for it?

Its more important than ever to get it fixed as I was in an accident in my wifes van and its totaled. Any help on the part# would be greatly appreciated...

if you can post here , why ask for part number ?

use your computer or call the local auto part store.........

best is to look up any part on the internet then call stores..this is available also at a scrap yard if your looking just for a switch..

then the dealership can also get , hard to find parts,,but you will pay 250% more for them...
