Question Suspension Bushings

Okay...here's the scenario:
I live in a town full of shitty streets and potholes. I have 17"s, which are pretty darn heavy. So, whenever I go over a pebble, I hear some rattling, I figure the bushings could use being replaced. Well, sometime moderately soon I'm lowering my car too...so I figure I'll replace the bushings with something that can withstand the abuse of shitty streets, heavy rims, and hard driving. So, I think to myself..."Self, you should get some polyurethane bushings".

So, my question to anyone who knows, is...is this a universal sort of part? I mean, are bushings something that fit basically any application, or am I going to have to find a specific bushing for my car? Any help?

Umm yes and NO.
For my old Triumph I just measured the old bushings and went down to the local autoparts store and went through thier racks maesureing all the bushings there till i found some the right size, or close enough that they could be cut down.

However for my Civic the local suspension shop can order in a complete set of nolothane bushings that are manufactored just for my model car.

Be warned that Nolothane bushings are generaly harder than the stock rubber ones, and so any bumps in the road will actualy feel harder. How old is your car? you might be better replacing them with stock rubber ones.
