Need help with M-tec Steering Wheel

I need help. I purchased a M-tec sterring-wheel off ebay that said it fits E34, but when I went to change the steering-wheel the steering-wheel didn't fit. The hole on the steering wheel was smaller. What can I do to make it fit. Do I change the Steering column? And if so, which one do I use? A M3? I have a 1991 M5. I want to chnage the plain steering wheel into the Mtec Steering-wheel. The guy i purchased the wheel from in Germany says it did fit.

E34 M5's came with leather wraped sport steering wheels. What did someone before you replace it with a regulaor one?
