93 Transmission swap

How hard is it you swap a tranny from a 92 2.3 grand am with a 93 2.3 grand am. I have a 93 that leaks tranny fluid from somewhere behind the engine near the firewall on the bottom. transmission shifts and moves forward when full of trany fluid, but when it leaks out, it will not even move. I found a junk 92 with blown motor for $125. Would it be cheaper or easier to fix the 93 tranny or swap trannys? Thanks

Re: 93 Transmission swap

If its leaking out the back then it might have a broken case or a line even could be busted due to rust. Might check it out first.

When replacing this you have to drop it out the bottom so it is challenging if you dont have a lift or realy tall jack stands.

This link has some directions for the disassembly of your trans and what you need to remove it....

Hope that helps
