Re: RB SWAP FAQ FROM UNSTABLE. GOT AN RB QUESTION? LOOK HERE FIRST!
i like the idea of the twin turbo, can the rb25 be turned into a tt? what kind of steps should i do to do such a thing? the mechanic i am talking to is pushing me to the rb25 too, says with the 26tt, that one of the turbos is pressed against the firewall. rattles, and threatens fire on the otherside of said firewall. and that there is a lot of cutting required.

TT is no better than single turbo. Single turbo is much more simple and leaves you much more underhood room. Less heat as well.
This car is no different than any other car. To make more power, you must put more air through the engine with enough fuel and you must ignite the AF mix at the correct time. I hope you realize that 500whp in a 240 is useless on the street.

Re: Re: RB SWAP FAQ FROM UNSTABLE. GOT AN RB QUESTION? LOOK HERE FIRST!
dosent the tt setup stop the idea of 'turbo lag' by having one turbo spooled faster and therefore outputting more power sooner and then when that one is wound out, the second kick in?
& yeah, i know 500 whp is useless on the street (do you think a viper owner thinks that too? (i used to have a 96 z28 six speed and came across a viper (or rather the viper came across me) that just totally walked away from me like i was standing still) ... but it sure does make fun for shits n giggles. |

You're thinking of sequential turbos. Preference really. But go to phatka-t.com and watch a couple of thier vids. Mainly the 500whp on the street and tell me they have lag.
A viper is much heavier than a 240 so wheelspin is not so much an issue.

www.nicoclub.com www.240sxforums.com www.freshalloy.com I believe all of them have video sections. I usually go to ka-t.org, nicoclub.com, and phatka-t.com. All really cool guys. This one is the best though: http://www.team-octane.net/turbokaultimate.zip

I've been reading this complete guide (it's great!)
but i still have a question rewgarding the RB25 swap. here in europe, the 240sx's are standard equiped with a SR20DET engine. is it worth swapping it to a RB25, or should i put all my money in the tuning of the SR20DET? |

Common occurance on tuned RB26DETT's, HKS even make an air flow meter idle computer(exact name unsure) to compensate for this air reversion.
BOV spring pressure helps but it is a pain when your Air Flow Meters get so much air rushing past them your engine stalls

Re: RB SWAP FAQ FROM UNSTABLE. GOT AN RB QUESTION? LOOK HERE FIRST!
For those of you that are interested in swapping out for a rb26dett motor i would like to maake a suggestion. First off i would suggest that you go with a Rb25det first and foremost because of the way the engine would have to be installed to fit both turbos is way to pricey! secondly for about what it would take to install a 26 you could pull out almost twice the power out of the 25 and have it much more reliable. installing a rb 26dett correctly you are looking in the ball park of about ten grand doing it yourself as aposed to the 6 grand for a 25 if you were to do it yourself! In the end that is m opinion and just a suggestion. the typical reason someone would install a rb 26 motor is just to say hey i jst spent a ungodly amount and got a stock twin turbo skyline motor. But to each his own.

Re: RB SWAP FAQ FROM UNSTABLE. GOT AN RB QUESTION? LOOK HERE FIRST!
True True, all True.
But I wouldn't take back my rough idling, badly tuned, rb26 swap even though I spent over 8K on the swap. The look on people's faces when they see that motor is priceless. In the end though, my car would be twice as fast as it stands now if I went with the RB25 route. But I'm hoping that the potential for HP down the line will outweigh the cheaper initial cost of the RB25. They are similar motors, but still, so very very different.
