Dude, a shirt over your nose isnt going to stop you from being exposed from the HARMFUl vapors of spray paints. Do yourself a favor and invest the $25 for one of those filtered masks that you see at Home Depot, the kind with the changeable filter cartridges..some have 2(like mine) but there are some that only have one. You said you went down to the pharmacy to look for a mask..were you looking for those dr's type masks? Those arent protecting you from anything but dust particles really. And about painting in your room I wouldnt do that unless you keep the mask on for a while. It takes a while for the fumes to go away. I know you said you get dust mites stuck to your paint job when you spray anywhere else but trust me, your(definitely mine!) health is more important than some model car, unless 20 years from now you wanna walk around with the shakes and trying to remember where you placed your car keys...

So a good paint finish now is more important than a busted lung later down the road?

Dust and bubbles can be polished out, your lungs can't.

Don't go cheap on the stuff that you need. Buy a raspirators that can filter fume and fine dust. Get on from hardware store. Those paints are very toxic.

AND spray outdoor. If you can only spray in your room, at least turn on a fan (WITH raspirators on).
