Hinge Pins 99 Sonoma. Welded in?

Hi, I have read all the threads I can find, watched a number of youtube video's, and read on other forums how to replace the hinge pins on my 1999 Sonoma.

My bushings are shot, the door sags, I can hardly close it. Instead of clips that hold the pins in, there seems to be a glob of weld on each side where the clip should be. It is bigger in diameter than the hole where the pins go through, so I am afraid to pound on the pin. I tried to knock it off with a hammer and chisel, no luck.

Has anyone ran into this problem? I don't have a chop saw and my sabre saw wont fit in there.

Thanks

Re: Hinge Pins 99 Sonoma. Welded in?

I can't really know for sure what you have, but my experiences with mine, after the 3rd set of bushings in a year, I looked at the oblong holes in my hinges and tried to add some nails to hold the bushings to one side and then JB welded everything in place, that lasted about 6 months. My last fix 2 years ago was to take the door off paying close attention as to which way I needed to offset, drilled out the holes oversized and installed grade 8 bolts and nuts, no bushings or pins. I actually went a tad too much and have to slam the door with a slight downward pressure. So I can understand why someone did what the did. I'd try twisting with vicegrips or a hammer and chisel to break the welds.
