2004 Rodeo 3.5L DI coolant sensor
My 2004 Rodeo threw a coolant sensor code CEL. Went away after an hour or so driving.
I had this replaced not long after I got the truck in 2009, so it doesn't owe me anything, but I'm willing to replace it again as a precaution. At that time, I had a series of CEL's all related to coolant temps, and took it to the (now gone) dealer several times to be de-carboned. While chasing that problem they replaced the name brand sensor a local garage had just replaced, with the "Isuzu" OE sensor. CEL finally went away. Can anyone tell me who makes the OE Isuzu sensors? For the first number of years, my wife drove this Rodeo 7-10 miles to work, now it's mine, with 135,000 on it and I get it out on the Interstate frequently. I regularly use a fuel injector or fuel system cleaner, but I wondered if anyone had a recommendation of a specific product to clean and keep the carbon out? |

Re: 2004 Rodeo 3.5L DI coolant sensor
I use to use a 1/2 can of sea foam in the oil, took it for about 15 mile drive and then changed the oil ... I did this before each oil change.
you could also fog the engine with sea foam (there are a ton of youtube videos) ... or just get use to putting in 1 qt of oil every 1000 miles...

Re: 2004 Rodeo 3.5L DI coolant sensor
I replaced the sensor, but the CEL has reappeared.
The coolant sensor I replaced is up front, on the drivers side, top of the engine. There aren't separate sensors for the temp gauge and the Fuel injection and computer, are there? |
