Dodge Ram... what is a power distributor set???

My dodge ram 2k4 has just been back to the dealer for the 3rd time in 2 months because it failed to start. the dealer said he wants to put a power ditributor set in it to distribute the flow of power where needed. so when i start it the power is primarily going to that... im not big on car parts, but will this part have any effect on the power of the truck, slow it down, what not. what exactly is a power distribtor set and what effect will it have on my truckls power, gass mileage etc etc any1 with info plze help.
