Cleaning off Scratch X
Hi everyone,
I have polished my model with Meguiars Scratch X and im satisfied with the shine. Only problem is there is some scratch x residue left on and I cant seam to get it off. I was wondering whats the best way to clean the Scratch X off and not damage the model/paint im using tamiya spray BTW. Thanks! |

Re: Cleaning off Scratch X
As in the panel lines and hard to reach places? If so using a tooth brush will work, or a tooth pick.

Re: Cleaning off Scratch X
That looks as though it is IN the paint. I'd try using just a bit more polish and buff it out a little at a time. Or you could try using some stuff I have found to work quite well, Novus plastic polishing products. I'd suggest the fine scratch remover followed by clean and shine. Or in your case, the clean and shine might work well by itself.
The problem with anything from McGuires is that it is designed for much harder thicker paints, so it basically softens the paint ever so slightly so it fills in scratches with paint.

Re: Cleaning off Scratch X
I usually submerge the body in a bowl of mild soapy water for a few minutes so it can soften the compound residue, then I scrub it off with a babies toothbrush(soft bristles).

Re: Cleaning off Scratch X
Meguiars wax or cleaner/polish will remove the residue also..
