Post having problems wit honda zc swap

I have a 1993 honda civic vx hatchback. the person I got the car from put a zc engine in it with the vx transmission. I am having tons of problems with it.for one it is extremely slow but the main problem is the idel when I start the car it kicks up to 2500rpm and and bounces up and down until it is warmed up then when I go downhill it cools down the engine then I am right back to the idel problem again. please help

Re: having problems wit honda zc swap

i'm going to assume you're using the 1995 Dohc ZC
A) in that car it's slow period. i haven't seen anyone with that engine get any respectable speed out of it.
B) the going up and down of idle is prob. the EACV located on the intake manifold. it could be clogged (remove it spray it down with cleaner) or it could be no good (get a new one)

Re: having problems wit honda zc swap

alright you're tranny isn't what's causing the crazy idling... look on your air intake manifold on the back side of it is a device held on by 2 12mm bolts. and it also has 2 hoses going to it which have anti-freeze. so remove the hoses, and bolts, pull the EACV off. make sure you don't rip the rubber gasket. get some carb. cleaner or brake cleaner spray in the two holes (inside the holes you should see something that looks like a spring) just keep spraying. then put it back on and hope it's not dead.
