ford f250 powerstroke loses power
we have a 1995 Ford f250 powerstroke diesel super cab. The truck was going down the road and lost power, then it started to die out going up a small hill. The truck died. We had it towed to the machenic and he changed some sensor in the engine said it was fixed.Drove 70 miles home no problem, went to get diesel ,truck started to skip and made a clunky sound smelled oil ,lost power and bucked. We then turned around went to go home and the truck started to winedown,no power ,rpm's at 3, foot to the floor no smoke made that wierd clunk clunk like it was getting ready to blow a rod.No sign of oil leak ,all fluids are good ,no power. We are going to have it towed to the shop but are very upset ,shop said it has a 1212 code whats that? But they said it went out when the other sensor was fixed. Please help us we rely on this truck to earn a living. thanks Oh they did a oil pressure test and it was fine.

Re: ford f250 powerstroke loses power
What sensor did they change? I'll check out the 1212 DTC and let you know the details of the code. The clunk or knock you are hearing may be the sound of the fuel system getting less than the desired amount. When the lift pump cannot provide enough fuel the engine can knock ( most noticable after trying to restart.) Have them perform a fuel pressure test and verify the lift pump is ok, also for a complete stall out ( possible cam position sensor ) check you oil level Powerstroke injectors rely totally on high pressure motor oil to operate. Many times this is missed and creates a lot of hunting around for problems that are as a result of the low oil level. What pressures did they come up with and did they check each head? Hope this can give you some areas to check.
