Pathfinder. wont start intermittantly
I just got a 1995 Pathfinder. Randomly about 2 times a week it wont start. No power to the starter, no noise, no nothing. I've tried crossing the wires on both switches on the clutch. It will start when it is good & ready, maybe 1/2 hour maybe 2 hours. Possibly a bad solinoid, but dont where it would be. Any ideas e mail divrbill@yahoo.com. Thanks

I've got a similar problem. The engine will cut out for a few seconds, intermitantly, unpredictably, while I'm driving or while idled. The idiot "have serviced" light is on. Doing diagnosis showed me that a wire on top of the air intake manifold is loose, and I can stop the engine by fiddling with the wire. The wire is connected to a device on the top of the intake tube after the filter. Removing the device shows me a small metal tube extending into the intake tube protecting a single wire. Obviously some sort of test device. What this thing is ... I have no clue. It's been 30 years since I worked on engines, and have never seen one of these. But I note the poor state of the wires and wonder if replacing them will solve my problem. |
