CADDY HELP WANTED!!1973 Eldorado

Recently got ahold of a 1973 Eldorado hardtop. 104k miles nice, original shape. Just 1 problem. The power seat is not working. It is in the position up against the rear seat, all the way back. Upon observation the seat motor does have power and tries to operate when the switches are operated..It just grunts and dims the interior lights.. The seat appears to be cable-driven in numerous places. So there must be a transmission?gearbox? The previous owner actually clamped a 2x4 block to the gas pedal!! Just wondering, before I pull the seat. Any help would be appreciated.

Remove the cables from the seat transmission and see if you can move them manually, if not the seat trans is frozen or binding and loading up the seat motor, if they turn by hand, the motor is usually the issue.
