How often should anyone check their car brake fluid levels?
I know fluid does not have to be changed until every couple of years but how often should I be checking the levels of my brake fluid?

Hi there,
Never!!! Why should you check it???? Is there a leak. Brakefluid should be changed every 2 year. If you do that and there is no leak then don't check it. There is also a warning light to check the level. modellmaker.

"Never" seems like too long an interval... A good rule of thumb is to check all the fluids under your car's hood every time you check the oil and the tire pressures, or at least once a month. Check it more often if you suspect a problem. The brake fluid container is usually clear/translucent and the fluid level can be visualized in seconds once the hood is up.

" never " is most of the time 2 years.
Between two intervals. If you have a problem it's normal to check, because there is a problem.!! But If there is no leak there is no reason to check it more often. That's why there is a sensor It's not so easy sometimes to check the level in most modern cars these days. I believe that when you don't have a problem you shouldn't have to check so many times... Good is good. modellmaker.

Re: How often should anyone check their car brake fluid levels?
You should do a view on it when you check the oil. The level of then tank can change during use but it shouls always be the same when the engine is turned off. If the level falls fast, you should look out for leakages. A major source for such problems are the wheel cylinders. A slightly and slow falling level is normal, because brake pads and discs waer down, so the wheel cylinders need a bit more fluid to work. And: Change it at least every two years. I would do this once a year if i lived in the Rockies. Good working brakes can save lifes. Greets from Peine/Germany Thorsten
