Thumbs up 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds

You gotta admire the British 'Kit Car' industry ( and their registration laws that allow these machines to flourish)

Check out the Lotus Clubman-style Tiger Z100 from Z Cars ..
featuring TWO Kawasaki ZX9 motorcycle engines in tandem, 32 valves, three gearboxes, 304 hp, for a 0-60mph time of 3.11 seconds - faster than a McLaren F1!

Not quick enough you say?

Then opt for the Tiger Z100WR version, with 2 ZX12's, 360 hp and four wheel drive for 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds & 0-100 mph in 6.3! (using road-legal tyres)

Also available in 'turnkey' form at Z Cars

It would be a lot nicer if it wasn't underpowered.

Damnnnnnnnnnn..... that is sweet!!

Are you sure that is true as i thought you need 4wd, to achieve that kinda acceleration! but if it is, i wouldn't mind one of these cars!!

Acceleration is based off of a few key things, the most simple being weight and power, then getting into drag.

Lets keep it based on weight and power. Realistically, you can only put down so much power. A 2000 hp car that can only put down 300 hp, won't really go any faster than a 400hp car that can put down 300hp. Thats assuming tractions is a constant linear equation, which its not.

Now a 1300 lb car with 300 hp is going to accelerate just as quickly to 60 or even 100 mph as a 2600lb 600 hp car. The 2300lb car will have the edge once it gets past 120 or 130 mph.

If you had a 400 lb car with 200 hp, it'd cook either of them in the 1/4 mile. Wouldn't have to be 4WD either.

The downside of 4WD in drag cars is, once you get past the 10 second mark, the weight of the system outweighs the benefits in traction, because when you accelerate like that, most of the weight comes off of the front wheels, and goes to the back. In fact, most cars that go quicker than 9 second quarter miles use hop bars in the back to keep from flipping over, because the front wheels come right off the ground.

BTW, a 3.1 second 0-60 will be between 10.5 and 12 seconds, depending on your powerband.

Did anyone happen to catch a top speed on one of these Z100WR bad boys? I didnt see one anywhere, I might just not be looking hard enough. I'm gonna take a guess and say somewhere around 150.

any of you guys live in britain? i do, and if you go to any car shows or track days cars like thses are everywhere. The last track day i went to there was a Westfield with a AC Cobra V8 in it (god knows how they got it in there) and mannnnn that was fast. There is all types of Caterham Superlight's, Westfields etc. that would easily give this Tiger a run for its money. Problem is they all have trouble having their power

But those Tigers arnt very reliable, the guy on are TV who was trying to set that record of 2.8 seconds blew the car up the process. Good that you can change into two different gears at once.
