1970 Sunbeam Alpine
My Dad has a 1970 Sunbeam Alpine Coupe with a blown motor. It's been in his garage for the last 26 years. Would anyone know of a motor that would easily replace the existing one with little modification? I think it's either the 1500cc or 1725cc motor with a four speed transmision and Weber carbs. It wasn't a very strong motor when it was running but the car has alot of sentimental value. I would very much like to restore it to some degree. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Weber carbs? Are you sure? I wonder if what you have there is the "Holbay" hotrodded version.
Anyway, a neat car. the UK has a club for those, sorry but I don't know the URL. If you're searching, remember that what was sold in the US as an Alpine was also sold in the home market as a Rapier, IIRC they used several names on that car. I don't think I've ever seen an engine swab in one of those, but I've seen Datsun "L-series" OHC dropped into the old 1959-1967 Alpine roadsters, which used the same engine as yours, so one should fit in your fastback.
