P1125 Code
Hello,
I have a 2001 Trooper and have been experiencing problems with the check engine light coming on and going off alot over the course of the past few months. The problem with this is when the check engine light comes on, it is followed by the "reduced power" light coming on, and the engine immediately loses power so as there is just enough to get the car going. I kept thinking it was a gas cap issue so I would tighten it, but because it happens so much, I decided to take it to an Autozone and have it scanned. The code that was pulled was P1125. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what this code means, and what to try? I can't seem to find anything on this code, except for a Toyota forum that talks about Throttle Body problems. Maybe the throttle body needs cleaning? Thanks! Tony |

Re: P1125 Code
Thanks Ryan. Would you suggest replacing the throttle position sensor on the throttle housing then?
Thanks again for your help! Tony Last edited by BOUTO29355; 03-15-2005 at 10:41 AM. |

I'm not sure if you can just unbolt it and clean it up? That might be worth a shot.
I think this is a pretty straight forward unbolt - rebolt up again. Will this fix your problem? Maybe. It is possible that you have a leaky IMG too. If you are looking to pruchase a new one contact the guys at St. Charles The guys at St Charles Isuzu, have the best prices on OEM parts (free shipping). If you have any warranty left, you might check with a dealer first. I seem to remember quite a few posts from owners needing a new throttle unit of some sort for their drive-by-wire equipped rigs. Of course if you have no dealer or warranty it probably cannot hurt to try a cleaning. Be sure to post back with what you do/find.

Re: P1125 Code
Just wanted to give a quick update..... First off, Thanks for the help Ryan and Travelman. Ryan, I purchased a TPS from St. Charles Isuzu. What a great experience. The gentleman I spoke with was great. TPS for $50 bucks with no shipping charges. That is MUCH cheaper than I could find with any local dealer in Atlanta, and they were very helpful! I will buy from them again if I need to. I decided to go ahead and just replace the TPS on the throttle housing. So far so good! I'll give it a couple more days and will report back. I really appreciate your help on this!

Good deal Tony. Glad to hear that was the fix. Good info for others. There are several posts floating around about throttle by wire issues (2000+). I'd be willing to bet some dealers would swap out the throttle by wire system instead of just the TPS. Big $$$ mistake!

I have the same exact problem
I have the same exact problem with my 2002 trooper 68000 miles with code P1125 I actually first got the code 10,000 miles ago but it only happened twice and then stopped happing but it recently did it three times with in 3000 miles so I figure it time i do something about it. Going by this form it seems to be my tps which is great since it seems I can put a new one in myself and i don't have to deal with a dealership and my rip-off 200 deductible for warranty service. But I have one problem i don't know where the tps is located, what is looks like or how to switch it. and to complicate things the dealer told me I have two one at the pedal and one in the throttle housing.
Is there any one that can point in the right direction or tell where i can purchase a repair manual for an 02 trooper all the parts stores around here only sell the manuals for pre 98 troopers. Thanks |

I believe the TPS is mounted on the left side of the throttle body. Right on/near the throttle shaft. There is also a servo motor that actuates the throttle and an accellerator pedal position sensor associated with this lovely system .

http://www.helminc.com I bought the hardcopy version for my '98 trooper from them. I bought the CD version for my Ford van. Both were over $100 but they seem to be the same as the dealer uses. Hope this helps PeteCal
