Automatic Locks

Hello, 1992 Buick Roadmaster Limited. Does anyone know how to disable the very annoying automatic power locks that occur everytime you shift this car into gear....I know I can disable the power locks by taking out the fuse but I would much rather just disable this feature...and keep my power locks. Thanks

Re: Automatic Locks

I love that. Shift out of park and they lock, shift back into park and they unlock, hehe. I believe that's sort of a safety feature and there may not be a way to disable it. Good luck, though.

Wink automatic locks

Yeah well I feared that....I had a Mecury Grand Marquis and I was spoiled because there was a way to disable/enable them. Sometimes though there is a way to do something even if it is "skirting" around and by passing something...I just don't know what that something is. Maybe I will just have to tinker on my own.

Automatic Locks

It is actually quite easy to disconnect the automatic locks...if you look under the dash, you'll see a grey plug coming down from the dash above the gas pedal. This plug should have 4 wires in it. Unplug this connection. It will unplug the automatic locks but NOT the power locks.

Re: Automatic Locks

I looked for the grey plug....I could not find it but I saw a black plug amongst a mess of wires (harness). Could this be the same?

I just looked under the dash of my '93 RM Estate and found a connector on the right side of the neutral safety switch on the steering column. It has a single blue wire. Unplugging this connector disables the automatic door locks apparently without affecting the door locks otherwise. Hope this helps.
