Fujimi 1/24 1966 GT40
Just finished this one up last night. Commonly built kit so not much to say about it that hasn't been said before. I didn't do anything special to it other than added safety wire to the wheel knock-offs, repainted the kit fender swoosh decals to be more accurate in color and hand painted the blue stripe around the tires. Otherwise built out of the box.
Thanks for looking...

Beautiful work! Love that livery, and great job on the fender decals.
Can't believe I still have never built a GT40.

Very nice work. I always wished this car had won the race as black the #2 winner hides the details.
I would love the see someone do all the factory 1966 Lemans and Sebring cars on a Cartograf printed decal sheet in 1/24th scale. Steve are you listening? Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 2013 |

Great job! Now please tell me how the hell you hand-painted the blue stripe on the tires!

Re: Fujimi 1/24 1966 GT40
Thanks for the comments everyone...
The tire stripes were painted using a very fine long bristled fine-liner brush. There's a very faint ledge molded onto the tire. I mixed tamiya acrylic blue and white with a little flat base, then thinned the paint down to the point of almost like a wash. I used the brush and flowed the paint right along the top of the ledge molded on the tire. Because the paint was so thin it took two coats of paint but the result was decent and I couldnt find decals in the correct diameter.
