What's the oldest car you've actually driven

Just wondering what the oldest car is that you folks have actually driven in your life. I currently have a stock 1948 Chevrolet Sedan in the garage, but, back in the early 60's I had a stock 1937 Dodge that I drove to high school every day. Guess I never really got over my love of old fat fendered cars.

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

Good post. The oldest car I've driven was a 1929 Jordan my friend had inherited from his grandfather. It hadn't run since 1962. My job was to get it running. Continental straight 8 engine, magneto ignition. Luckily the cylinders had been filled with oil and there were some spare ignition parts in the back seat. Alot of work and several weekends later it was fun to drive. The fuel tank was shot so we tied a 5 gallon jerry can to the fender. Had to keep making pit stops to air up the tires!

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

Good posts. The oldest car I've actually ridden in was a 1928 Dodge sedan that a friend of mine restored. He's the one that found the 37 model that I bought. Growing up, I got to drive a 55 Olds 88, a 56 Ford sedan, a 59 Olds 98, a 62 Olds 98, a 63 Olds F-85, a 66 Olds 98, a 66 Olds Cutlass, a 70 Olds Toronado GT, a 62 Dodge Dart GT, a 67 Plymouth Barracuda, and a 69 Olds 442.

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

The first car I drove, when I was 14, was a 1929 Model A Ford coupe. It was owned by the man who lived across the road from my grandparents in Maine. Until several months ago, my dad (who turned 90 today) had three antique cars and I have driven all of them. His first one was a 1928 Model A sedan on which he did a complete restoration. Next he got a 1918 Model T Touring car. One of my brothers has the A and my sister has the Touring. Dad still has a 1932 Franklin, which will eventually go to my youngest brother.

Lanos:

Always wanted to ride in a Model T. I have ridden in a Model A. A high school buddy had of mine had one, and, we occasionally went to school in it instead of my 37. There was about 9 miles of decent road from our town to the city where our high school was, and he'd run that Model A flat out until we got to the city limits.

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

The Model T Touring is essentially an open car. It had a top, but my dad's car had no side curtains that I remember. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) He left the top down most of the time so it would fit in his garage - too tall with the top up.

I know what you mean. I've seen Model T Touring cars at shows. They're pretty tall with the tops up. I think you're right about the side curtains.

It is a nice ride. Regrettably, some fellow car enthusiasts on the net (and at the shows etc) are way too likely to be insulting than supportive of other people's projects.

those guys where not even car enthusiasts there morons, idiots, dummy's, and blind jack A**es. I learned nothing from their forum all they did was give me a headache.

I even gave there site a poor review on youtube.com because they judge people extremely badly like they know everything.

Re: What's the oldest car you've actually driven

I guess I've been lucky. I haven't run into this on any of the Chevy forums I frequent. People there have been very helpful when I ask dumb questions about the 48.
