Question 16 or 17 in rims for stock 98 Civic?

I have a silver 98 Honda Civic DX coupe with stock suspension and wheels. Well, I have four questions:

1. Should I consider buying silver 16 inch Motegi Racing rims or spend the extra $$$ for 17's?

2. Also, has anyone heard anything good/bad about Motegi? This is the MR7 model that costs between 105-150 bucks.

3. What brand/size/price tires should I be looking for if I want to spend about a grand total (and want as smooth a ride as can be achieved)?

4. Are stock Honda wheels 14in?

I am in the market for buying nice silver or chrome rims with nice tires for about 1000 bucks. It's my first car and I don't want to spend too much money on 'em--but they do have to look good/perform well. Let me also mention that I will not be lowering this car either--this really sucks. Very disappointing. In college, things will be different...

Thanks in advance for your help.

It depends where you going drive your car
17" great for ideal road surface. If you sometimes drive on
unpaved roads you'd better stick with 16"
Also 17" easier to bend when parking near curbstone

i love the LOOK of 17s on my car, and they hold the road better than anything i've ever had (because they are 7.5" wide lol), but the extra weight = unsprung weight, and can potentially slow you're car down. However, the is compensated through the corners. Oh well, just buy mine! I'll give them to ya for $700 as long as you pay shipping. They are 17" racing hart evos WITH TIRES. They're falken ziex 205/40ZR17. They costed $1100, but i'm trying to pay off college lol. I think they're pretty awesome though...

16" would be plenty big for that car. You'll also have a better price point on the tires and wheels in the 16" size. You can see all of the wheels we sell for your vehicle here:

http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=DY6&...eels/index.jsp

All of these will have the correct bolt pattern and offset for your car. Use caution when buying used wheels. Have them checked out by a shop before closing the deal. You don't want to be buying someone's bent rims. Make sure they are hub-centric and come with the correct lug hardware.

Re: 16 or 17 in rims for stock 98 Civic?

I actually have some very nice RS limited Shinwa rims, brand new and for sale. I bought these for my 89 civic, but then the next week I ended up selling that civic and buying a 98 cavalier with that $ and a little saved up $. But they are still brand new, only opened out of box to look at 2 of them, other 2 are still sealed in the box that i bought them in, the 2 opened are still in original boxes but have just been opened once.

Lmk if you are interested, but here is a picture of the rims I have for sale. Will sell for 200-250$ + s/h for all 4, no tires included... I need all the $ i can get for some 17s for my cavalier, and these were just collecting dust. Thanks and lmk.
