looks are a subjective thing- I personally think they are both ugly and that the Monaro/GTO looks much better- theres no denying that they are fast- but they are too far behind the times IMHO

MACH I is close but not close enough because the Z is so underrated. And yojcbeast here, is comparing a 45K car to a 35K car. OK, lets put 10 Grand into that Cobra and see how it measures up to the Vette, SEEYA! Who cars about luxury? I would be scared to drive any car thats made of fiberglass (especially a 625 HP one)and if you get in an accident will kill you. I prefer metal. Speed is what matters. My truck makes about 325 HP, and it weighs 5000 pounds, but can still lay the smackdown on a GT. I would even race a Mach I, it would be close because I have auto with shift kit which is much faster than 5 speed. I would not beat a Z28 or SS though, never tried they are pretty scarce around here and the people that do have them are all pussies. My point is why do people compare the dumbest things? |

Er, just so you know, the corvette has a hydroformed steel frame, fiberglass is just the body paneling, which does jack to protect you in an accident anyway.

The frame is in the middle, you practically sit on it. Meaning that a side impact will crush the door and go right into you. Corvettes have never been very safe, this is a known fact. But people don't by them for safety of course. |

First of all, they do very well in crash tests. secondly, the frame isn't "in the middle" it's a full perimeter frame, meaning if you get hit in the door, the front adnd rear windshield pillars will absorb it as well as the siderail, not to mention the doors side impact beams.

A Camaro just sits there, like a rock. Chevrolet is nothing else than a division of general motors that takes all their good performance cars, and redesigns them into economical V6 front wheel drive cars, I can't wait until chevy redesigns the camaro! I've always wanted a front wheel drive car!

Actually the Mach 1 is a good competitor for the camaro Z28. Ford underrated the mach 1 engine. The mach 1, which has the same dohc engine that was put in former cobras, is making about 320hp and 320tq. That is pretty close to the ls1 Z28.
P.S. I was just wondering why chevy makes botha Z28 and a SS when they both have the exact same LS1? |

The SS is just an upgraded Z28. The Z28 would have more options because the Z's sent to SLP were loaded to start with. I know the 1996 SS's were down this way, chevy sent the z28 off to SLP and they upgraded the exhaust, suspension, intake, slapped vette wheels on it and a couple of other options depending on the package and sent it out the door.

Wrongo dude... The 2002 Camaro Z28 could be had for around $24K base price. The LS1 f-bodies spank the Mustang GT like a red-headed step child in EVERY performance category, no exception.
