how big is the hole? Mine had a couple a couple years back and i even passed the emissions with it like that.
if you dont want to spend a lot of money, either dont fix it, or just go to a junkyard and look for a rex with the axle back section in tact, unbolt it, and throw it on your car...very easy |

ive seen some kind of metal mesh looking kit at checker autoparts for repairing mufflers/exhausts although ive never tried it. Its probably pretty cheap, so give it a try maybe?

a clamp-on muffler from autozone runs about $20 for that vehicle - you might check them out too (or local equivalent)

You could prolly get a cheap muffler installed local for around 20 bucks. And if you go to sears it comes with a lifetime warranty, haaaa.

tape will not last long, with the heat cycling and the moisture it will come off in way less than a year.
You could try and find a used one for cheap or put a cheap new replacement one, that would be better
