how big is the hole? Mine had a couple a couple years back and i even passed the emissions with it like that.
if you dont want to spend a lot of money, either dont fix it, or just go to a junkyard and look for a rex with the axle back section in tact, unbolt it, and throw it on your car...very easy

ive seen some kind of metal mesh looking kit at checker autoparts for repairing mufflers/exhausts although ive never tried it. Its probably pretty cheap, so give it a try maybe?

a clamp-on muffler from autozone runs about $20 for that vehicle - you might check them out too (or local equivalent)

You could prolly get a cheap muffler installed local for around 20 bucks. And if you go to sears it comes with a lifetime warranty, haaaa.

the stuff is called muffler mend and it does work, when i worked at the auto store many people raved about it fixing their pipes and mufflers, cuz they were too cheap to buy the 20 muffler, anyway, you may wanna use that stuff, but it'll look better with the new muffler instead of alot of "tape" over your hole.

tape will not last long, with the heat cycling and the moisture it will come off in way less than a year.
You could try and find a used one for cheap or put a cheap new replacement one, that would be better
