It's called the Megacruiser.

In the top right corner if the pic it says that it will cost
9.62 million yen - around $95,000.

Toyota will never make an off-road vehicle as cool as the Humvee, even if it's almost a identical design - however, the agressive four wheel steering on the megacruiser is sick!!

That's pathetic . . .

SUV's in general are way out of scope in our present lifestyles . . . who the hell needs something that will seat 8, tow a yacht, and ford rivers while pampering you with a CD player and AC?

I do.

jk.

I would only buy something like the Hummer if I already owned too many cars, which I dont.

But in comparison of the Hummer and the Megacruiser, not only does just about everyone seem to prefer the Hummer's appearance, but it also has a few other aspects that make it more appealing.

The most interesting may be that it is available in wagon, pick-up, or convertible form (this one being my choice since there are various hard-top add-ons available to convert to a fastback, or wagon body, while being able to seat more than the pickup).

The Hummer also performs better:
Forget about the Megacruiser's turbodiesel I-4 (150hp/280 lb-ft.) in comparison to the Hummer's turbodiesel V8 (195hp/430 lb-ft.)

And if the H1 Alpha ever becomes available, you'll have night-vision, 2 screen navigation system, and will be running a 340hp Vortec 8100 with--(yes, thats FOUR digits)--4551 lb-ft. of torque.

Of course, these machines need more than just torque and off-roading gimmicks to be called a HMMWV (high-mobility, multi-purpose, wheeled vehicles--things labeled by the military that are non-tracked, vertsatile, and go anywhere). The Megacruiser just doesnt match up to the Hummer's 'high-mobility' dept:

Hummer approach angle: (without winch) 72 degrees
Megacruiser approach angle: 49 degrees

Hummer run-flat capability: 20 miles @ 30mph
Megacruiser run-flat capability: none

With huge amounts of U.S. military spending, its fairly obvious why the Hummer/Humvee/HMMWV leads the pack.

Why wouldn't Toyota copy the Hummer? They copied the Land Rover with the Land Cruiser.

I cant believe you would insult a Hummer by comparing it to that thing.

You talkin' to me? Are YOU talkin' to ME?

How ignorant can one fool get? So, if you don't make comparisons, you are respecting a certain product? Therefore, for example if you were a hardcore Chevy lover, then you would never compare their products to Ford's and in time, you would get beat. Know your enemy better than you know yourself. In this particular scenario, AM General maintains its lofty position high above the competition. But I wouldn't be surprised if at some point, some other automaker created something to make a fool out of the Hummer, and the U.S. military purchased their products instead.

If I had the money to buy one of those I'll go with the Humvee. First because is US made, second is stonger than a vehicle made for the regular people, third has more power.

AM Generar will probably get a copyright infrigment lawsuit aginst them....imo.....the did the same to the Studebaker XUV that copied the likeness of their H2

this is pathetic

"DCC filed a federal lawsuit in mid February contending that the grille on the H2 is too similar to Jeep's and will confuse consumers. It alleges trademark infringement and asks the court to block GM's use of the grille and seeks unspecified damages.

GM, which acquired the Hummer brand name from AM General two years ago, filed a competing lawsuit, and contends that AM General received a trademark for the grille in 1996 and should be allowed to use it.

I can't fault DC for aggressively defending the Jeep franchise. It is one of the best — and best-known — brands in the world, and preserving it is crucial to the automaker's survival.

But in their zeal to protect the franchise, DC's lawyers sometimes have stepped over the line and done more harm than good. Some year's ago they had the nerve to sue a small restaurant named “Jeep's,” even though it was named after the owner, not the SUV."

I've seen those look-a-like Hummers. Aren't they called Bummers? I could never be a want-a-be, I'd have to have the real thing.
Comparing Jeeps and Hummers is like comparing Corvettes to Ferrarris. You see a Vette on the street and you think "It's a nice car, but it's only a Vette". I should know, I own an 88 C-4, it is a nice car. You see a Ferrari and it's like "Holly crap!!!!!!!!! Did you see that, and the sound of it!!!!!!!!".
The same w/a Jeep. I have a repair shop, I've been subjected to repairing several. There is nothing impressive about a Jeep. Unless it is tricked out and has a Chevy V-8 under the sheet metal.
There is nothing like the bruteness of an H-1. ---Some wimp-assed peewee could step in a Hummer and come out looking like Fonzie.--- Just look at the technical design of all the pieces that make up the running gear. Ground clearance says a lot too, and the way the independent suspension is engineered is cool in it's self. Look at the price between the Hummer and a Jeep. Hummers are better designed, better built, and look tougher than crap, so naturally thay cost more. You get what you pay for.
Besides, you buy a Jeep, the money gets sent to Germany. Where is the coolness in that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
