Revell's reissue: Porsche 911 Carrera Cabrio - all wrong
http://www.revell.com/germany/cars/8...l#.VGi3iyj2jvI
I've done my research before on this kit that's being reissued, and there's so much wrong about this model (and the coupe and turbo versions). It's a shame, because I'd love to have a nice 993 version. What's wrong? Well, the chassis, suspension, and a lot of interior bits (seats, door panels and steering wheel) are all from the previous generation 911 and incorrect for the 993. Boo Revell! |

Re: Revell's reissue: Porsche 911 Carrera Cabrio - all wrong
I suspect it can always be the old italeri model, and the worst part ever of the kit is about undersized and bad detailed wheels.
For the rest is completely a 964 and not a 993 car. The mould is stuff from the early 90s. Unfortunately is still the only way to have this model in collection. The 993 body is anyway quite welldone in size and proportions.

Bingo.
The Italeri 993 cars is just a 993 body mated to a 964 chassis. You can still bash in a Tamiya GT2 chassis but you'll need to modify it so that the interior sits correctly as the GT2 kit replicates the stripped out interior. I'm about 1/4 of the way into just that. Body is painted and ready, waiting for me to do the hard work on the chassis parts. With that said, the old Italeri kit builds into quite a nice little model, even if it is "wrong".

And who could ever forget the horrible 2-dimensional headlights!
Have to be sourced from the Tamiya GT2 as well. |
