Re: Heater/AC blower running on highest speed only
Sounds like you need a need selector switch. On my 01'. the the gray facia plate around those controls has a few screws. Remove the facia and there are screws to remove the climate control center. From there I'm sure it's only a matter of switching out the old one for a new one.

Bzzt! Wrong. He needs a new blower resistor.

Thanks Brent. I'll keep this one. Sounds like it happens often.

Re: Heater/AC blower running on highest speed only
Can any one suggest me a good web site, where I can buy this part. Nearby local dealer does not have this in stock neither another well known store.
Thanks. |

If the dealer doesn't have it in stock, order it, they'll have it in 2-3 days tops unless it's back-ordered. Ordering online will take just as long, if not longer, and cost more after shipping.

I also have this problem today...AutoZone has it listed in the store computer; but not online...Dealer has to order it...
Six of one...half a dozen of the other... I can get to mine without removing anything...Have it in front of me, in fact... Grungy lookin' mofo...the salt in the Winter air, I guess... |

I was finally able to upload this composite photo today...
Edit: or maybe not...now it tells me the URL does not exist... Let's try this again... It shows the new [smaller] resistor at the top; the AutoZone [Wells] box & number in the middle; and the Nissan box/number at the bottom... If you notice, the number on the actual resistor [that one is the AutoZone part] is the same as the Nissan part...In fact, the two resistors [AutoZone & Nissan] are identical...and within a dollar of each other in price... I suppose they are both made by the same company...I just find it odd that the dealer and an aftermarket retailer both buy from the same mfg [with different packaging]... |

Re: Heater/AC blower running on highest speed only
Well, this resistor lasted about 5 years...Not too bad...It just went Tango Uniform last week...
Same as before...all grunged up...had speeds 3 & 4 left this time... Brent's location pic doesn't seem to show up...My resistor (in an 02 Xterra) is on the passenger firewall, where it meets the floor...Two Phillips screws holding it in, after pulling the connector out... Back in working order again! |

Re: Heater/AC blower running on highest speed only
Fan works on 4, and intermittantly on 2. Got a resistor from Autozone, put it in, no difference. Would the fan speed switch be the next thing, or could it be a defective new resistor? Other than the resistor, is there another part that is a common failure? I'm a Honda Tech, which is an entirely different species!
