Lack of power

I own a 99 nissan pathfinder 3.3L. 120,000 miles on it. Just had the timming belt replaced this week. I knew it needed replaced and becuase the vehicle isn't great with the power I was hoping the the new timing belt would improve the power band. What I'm wondering about is this lack of power through the power band until it is closer to the top. Could the timing be off. The engines are controlled by the computer so is it possible to adjust the timing from this point?

Re: Lack of power

Is there less power than before the timing belt was replaced? If so, I would think that you might be a tooth or two off of where you need to be. It is easy to do on a timing belt.

Not being familiar with your particular engine, I don't know, but is it easy to check the timing marks to make sure? I have replaced several belts over my life and some are easy and some are definitely a challenge.

Good luck...

Re: Lack of power

The primary ignition system is packed inside the distributor. The timing is set with the distributor like a conventional system of years ago.

Re: Lack of power

There is definately less power than before. I changed out my plug wires due to the mechanic who did my belt told me that my number one wire was arcing. When I looked around I could hear the arcing sound, but that turned out to be my negative side of my battery was loose and making the sound. I changed out my wires anyway. But I'm just not confident that he put the belt on right. He told me that the crank gear had a punched timming mark but there was no corresponding mark on the oilpump housing or timming belt rear cover. I had read that the gear needs to be lined up at the 5 oclock postion. I should pull the front cover and check it out, but you guys know how labor intensive that is. I do it though.
