I am on my second Rodeo - First one was:
Year:1998 2WD Engine:3.2 V6 Mileage:85K Any major problems: Only an alternator Second (current) one: Year:2001 LS 4WD Engine:3.2 V6 Mileage:135K Any major problems: None - The only "broken" part was an A/C clutch and ended up replacing everything (compressor, evaporator, expansion valve, etc) As "routine" maintenance, changed: Shocks, plugs (at around 70K), timing belt, water pump, dropped the transmission pan and replaced filter, fluid (~80K) Most of my 135K are highway miles - Both vehicles have been very good to me! 2000 Rodeo
3.2 V6 110,000 Major Problems: WELLLLLLLLLLLLLL...!!!!!!! I had to change the engine besause of a spun rear main. I usually check the oil every 2 weeks. My EGR valve plugged up and from what I have researched it will cause the engine to burn oil. Sooooo anyway I had to replace the engine. Now that it is done I have a transmission leak that was caused from the engine swap.(see my post under transmission problems to read the whole story) I have an appointment tomorrow to fix that.(with a a real transmission repair shop) Anyway, I love my 'Rodeo. I travel every year to NewMexico from Houston puling my motorcycle and it just fly's over the mountains. I hope they come out soon with a new model of the Rodeo????

1993
3.2L 208,500 miles Had to do some routine fixes for lack of maintenance. Wheel bearings, shocks, belts and hoses, tune up. Replaced the water pump, a rear window regulator(junk yard $20), front seat(junk yard $20 too). Wish I knew about the T.B. tensioner noise issue when I replaced the water pump! Struggling with an electrical gremlin right now. See post.(Fixed it! 4/19) Just bought the truck last summer from the original owner. Wanted a good old SUV to take the pooch to the park and keep the hair and mess out of my car. Love that it holds a couple of 4x8 sheets and hauls lots of tools too!

Had a '96 Rodeo...traded in for an '04 last summer (after 80K easy miles, sorry for driving only 10K/year).
Replaced radiator (recall), all tires, timing belt, water pump, everything else was scheduled maintenance (LOF, tire rotations, etc). '04 Rodeo - One issue with ABS light (brakes locked up while sliding down ice covered driveway backwards) - no repair, plus one rear end collision (I stopped 30' short of the pileup, Toyota Tacoma behind me didn't) about 2K to replace bumper, impact attenuation gear, repaint... Too bad there's no '05.... SF |
